Smoothly as at your microscope

“We save up to half a day in many cases by saving courier transport,” “On average, I am just as fast as I am at the microscope”: The first interactive user meeting “Digital Pathology” of Smart In Media showed how much the flexible solution “PathoZoom Digital Lab” makes the daily routine of pathologists easier — especially in corona times.

This was demonstrated by Dr. Lukas Heukamp from the Institute for Haematopathology Hamburg and PD Dr. med. Alberto Pérez Bouza from the Institute for Pathology and Cytology in Troisdorf with practical cases.

Smoothly as at the microscope

Dr. Heukamp presented working in the PathoZoom Digital Lab: The attendees saw how fast it is possible to switch between sections on the screen and that digital moving and zooming works as smoothly as at the microscope.

Considering the complexity of the topic Digital pathology, Dr. Pérez Bouza emphasized that not all processes have to be changed at once to get started.

Equally, exciting for everyone was the look beyond one’s own nose: the exchange about the daily challenges in pathology and solution approaches of the customers of Smart In Media in Germany and Austria. Dr. Martin Weihrauch, managing director and head of product development at Smart In Media, gave the audience an insight into planned PathoZoom innovations.

Storage is a challenge

It became clear that a great challenge for pathologies is the storage of glass and storage solutions for digital data. Approaches to solutions for this were also mentioned. So the planned hour for the user meeting was over in no time. Therefore, Smart-In-Media managing director Dr. Detlef K.-H. Finkler invited the participants to the next user meeting.
