Going digital in pathology – but which scanner is right for you? There are many options, and the differences are in the details: resolution, scan speed, throughput, cloud compatibility, image quality, and system integration. Our Chief Medical Officer Martin Weihrauch, M. D., spent months testing leading scanners – using identical histology slides and deep practical expertise. What makes our scanner test unique: The results can be experienced interactively – readers can zoom directly into the scanned specimens and compare the results.
Pathology classics, the latest trends, and concrete applications – USCAP, the annual meeting of the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, was again a highlight this year. Our team demonstrated the entire range of PathoZoom® solutions to dozens of visitors live at the stand in Boston: from manual digitization at the microscope and digitization of the grossing station to fully digital diagnostics with PathoZoom® Digital Lab, featuring the world’s fastest viewer and numerous AI options. All systems are in use at leading clinics and institutes worldwide. We thank the numerous visitors for the exciting discussions and the great feedback!
On-site with our partner Hamamatsu in Herrsching, Digital Pathology wasn’t just a concept – it was a real experience for more than 50 participants. During the workshop, Smart In Media demonstrated how manual scanning at the microscope, digitalization of the grossing station, and AI-supported diagnostics with PathoZoom® Digital Lab work in practice. PD Dr. Martin Weihrauch spoke about key drivers and challenges in the digital transformation of pathology. At the booth, Corina Turner gave a live demo showing how specimens can be measured and annotated directly at the grossing station – and how reliably the system performs, even with many users simultaneously.
As one of Europe’s leading HealthTech companies, Smart In Media was invited to present at Tech Tour “AI for Health 2025” in Bochum. Founder and CMO PD Dr. Martin Weihrauch shared our vision of an AI Marketplace for Digital Pathology – delivering a compelling pitch, a powerful presentation, and engaging in numerous one-on-one meetings. Our participation in this international event highlights how our AI technology is already setting new standards in diagnostics and shaping the medicine of tomorrow – today.
Great interest in Digital Pathology: At the workshop “Digital Pathology – from Zero to Hero,” Corina Turner (Smart In Media) and Ludwig Praxenthaler (Hamamatsu) showed over 50 participants how to get started with digitalization successfully – regardless of the current status in their laboratory. At the joint stand with Hamamatsu, the Smart In Media team presented the PathoZoom® systems live in action and answered numerous questions about integrating existing scanners, AI modules, and flexible cloud solutions. Our conclusion: the demand for smart, scalable solutions is high – and we are delighted to be part of this digital movement in medicine.
Smart In Media has been named “Company of the Year 2024” at the Wirtschaftsnacht Rheinland, winning in the “Digitalization” category. Founder PD Dr. Martin Weihrauch accepted the award on behalf of the team, in front of over 200 guests from business, politics, and culture. The jury praised the company’s international success, innovative strength, and forward-thinking solutions like the AI AppStore. In his speech, Dr. Weihrauch called it “a team achievement that improves cancer diagnostics and saves lives.” The €50,000 award was sponsored by partners including the DuMont media group.
